As we go on / We remember / All the times we / Had together [#84]
Hi friends!
Why YES I SURE DID put the lyrics of the Vitamin C graduation song in this subject line, and no I am not sorry if it gets stuck in your head.
And hello to the new subscribers that are just joining us. I have been writing this newsletter about twice-monthly for four years now, and it started as a way to keep a dozen friends in the US updated on my goings-on while I lived abroad. Now I'm in America again, but got in the habit of saving shareable links, and I like the intimacy of newsletters, so this thing lives on.
Thank you for continuing to open them up, and for your reliable feedback (I am looking at you, Andy Brown, who never fails to ping me about a broken link).

How to catch lucky breaks. A delightful time with Rick Steves. A dishy piece on the lengths restaurants go for their "important" guests. The drastic change in Asian diets over the past 50 years, visualized. What really happens to your clothes after you Marie Kondo your closet. Maybe we shouldn't feel like we need to keep improving ourselves. The defiance of Congress needs a political, not judicial, response. The best thing I've read on the Alabama, et al abortion criminalization laws. This poem is a punch in the gut. How to raise boys. Friend Peter explains how Beto fell out of favor. A fabulously written personal account by Drew Magary, on the time he almost died. Why we need memoirs for regular lives. What makes long distance relationships better. Keanu Reeves falls into the best category of man. "When you love someone a lot, they just look like love." The city by city taco vs public transportation rankings.
Werk and Musings
May has been mayhem. We started rolling out our new, monthly original video series, Future You with Elise Hu (I'm just here for the rhyme). The first one is about computer-assisted telepathy. The second one is about mind-controlled robot legs. Recounted a few days in New York, where Friend Alex married her beau/boo. Then I went back to my alma mater, Mizzou, to do the commencement address and eat toasted ravioli for every meal.

The Planet Money episode about the unstoppable Jeopardy champ, James Holzhauer
I have exactly one porn star friend and she agreed to get her friends together to talk frankly about their work, on NPR's All Things Considered.
Game of Thrones is over, which gives me the opportunity to get on my soapbox and remind you the best drama on HBO is last summer's SUCCESSION. Holy crap, if you haven't binge-watched Succession, do it, do it, do it.
I've been into NYMag's The Cut on Tuesdays pod lately, and enjoyed this recent one on how every marriage really boils down to narrative and our human need to latch onto propulsive plot lines.
As always, I welcome your comments, complaints and quips.
Until next time,
