Is it fall already? [#8]
Fall has arrived in Seoul and that’s a wonderful thing, as everyone who knows anything seems to say that autumn is Korea’s most beautiful season. The sun shines bright and the skies have turned a stunning shade of blue, comparable to the skies I recall from America.
What I Read
Nothing captures — and critiques — our overly romantic, “authenticity”-loving times quite like the hipster Barbie Instagram account. You can’t experience emotional connection by appointment. Tom Brady can never lose. Neither can the NFL. But hey, at least we’re not in China, home of the horrifying practice of drivers who “hit to kill,” because merely injuring a pedestrian is too costly.
Now that I’ve brought you down, here’s something to lift you up: Japan gave out its first-ever toilet awards. Researchers melded 3D printing and science to determine the ideal penis size. Two brothers separated after Hurricane Katrina had a surprise reunion at a Texas football game. And there’s a Texas-shaped pool, y’all! My favorite Hillary email is the one where she wonders about the guy who robbed a bank wearing a Hillary mask: “Do you think the guy chose that mask or just picked up the nearest one?”

Digit is an automated savings service that analyzes your checking account and automagically takes money out of it based on what it thinks you can spare. I’ve been astounded by how well it’s quietly taken small chunks out of my bank account over time and accrued some actual savings for me without my lifting a finger.
Amazon Prime now offers offline viewing. If you haven’t binged Catastrophe yet, do it. And now, you can do it without an internet connection! There are only six episodes so it’s great for a cross-country flight.
Adventures in Expat Parenting
Can you guess which child is mine in this picture? Yep.
Due to a colossal miscommunication with the all Korean speaking registration class at the community center that offers ballet classes, I thought ballet clothes were included in the price of the class. Clearly all the rest of the Korean moms did not have this miscommunication. Eva didn’t seem to care, thankfully.
