The Final Countdown [#28]
Hello friends!
We recently celebrated my older daughter's fourth birthday, which means she was born just before Obama's re-election of 2012. What an innocent time that seems, in retrospect. There's no shortage of great writing on our current state, so let's jump in:
What I Read
It's time to kill the 9 to 5. When to give up on a TV show. Constant streams of content are probably sapping our souls. Who gets to write what? A Black Lives Matter syllabus. North Korea's crystal clear strategy. Lying Ivanka and The psychology of Ivanka. Don't tell me I'm pretty as I am, because looks should be irrelevant. Trump's attitudes about women are repugnant but also so familiar. How Hitler, a 'most unlikely pretender for high office,' rose to power. How 'the sideshow' wins. Pork buns > deadly typhoons. Hell yeah, Boston Market. And Tom Hanks still wins at life.
What I'm Watching
NBC's new show, This is Us is worth a try, though maybe too melodramatic? Who I am I to complain though, I have stuck through all these years of Grey's Anatomy. Also, this video of breakfast around the world proves Americans just eat dessert for breakfast.
What I Wrote/Talked About
The livelihood loophole is one of the problems with current sanctions on North Korea. China and the U.S. are trying to crack down on North Korean front companies. The lack of diversity in newsrooms is still a problem. A personal reflection on it.

One of my go-to travel buddies, Erica, is doing something called Remote Year, where she co-works in a different country, one month at a time, for a year. She's blogging about it at Unraveled Travels.
As always, send me links you think this crew might like and forward this to any friends who might want to subscribe. And I welcome any feedback on what you want to see more of/less of in the Hu's-letter besides a less punny name because NOPE I'm gonna keep calling it this.
xoxo,
