Sharpening pencils were admittedly one of the little unrecognized joys of my childhood. And I remember that if you had your own sharpener, you were the coolest kid in school.
If you had your own mechanical sharpener, you were even cooler.
And in a pinch you could just bring up a paper cutter and shave the pencil into sharpened submission, but that meant a bad-looking pencil and you don’t want that...
Of course now we type. Or use pens. My Muji pen is nice but I do miss using pencils sometimes. It’s how I kind of started my entire so-called writing career.
